Rationale:

We choose activities depending on our goal.  If we want to have fun we are careful to choose an activity that we like.

Title:                      Song or book.

Materials:             A list of songs and a stack of story books.

Introduction:        Review the unit and introduce today's principle.

Introduce principle.

Activity:                Tell students that sometimes they get to choose activities.  Help them to choose to sing a song or read a book.  You may want to help them vote and explain that voting is one way to help a group of people make a choice.  After they have decided to sing or read, help them to choose the book or song.

Help children vote for a story or song.

Summary:             Read the book, or sing the song, they chose.

Do the activity and emphasize how it is very special since it was one they chose.
