The Haring Center at the University of Washington is hosting a lecture series on Down syndrome and literacy in partnership with the Global Down Syndrome Foundation. The first lecture will be held on September 19 at Kane Hall, Rm 210, on the University of Washington campus. Stephanie Al Otaiba, Ph.D., from Southern Methodist University will present a lecture entitled I AM A READER. Dr. Al Otaiba is a professor in the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University. Doors open at 5:30, lecture 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
The Language Is a Key video is a valuable tool to support the early literacy efforts of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. The video is an integral part of the Library’s Shared Reading and Early Learning Express Programs that teach the dialogic reading method to parents and caregivers of children ages 2-5.
